Our 5 years old: The Multilingual Trailblazer 🚀
Our elder daughter, at the age of five, has already embarked on a remarkable linguistic adventure. She spoke her first words at just 10 months, and by her first birthday, she had a vocabulary of around 15 words, primarily in Finnish. Her journey included exposure to French and English at daycare, as well as occasional Spanish classes.
We share the ups and downs of her language development during the pandemic and her recent transition to school. It’s a testament to how determination, exposure, and a supportive environment can work wonders for a child’s language skills.
Our 19 months old: The Budding Linguist 🌱
Our younger daughter, now 1 year and 7 months old, has been charting her unique course. She said her first word at six months but then paused before diving into a world of languages. Her vocabulary is steadily growing in Finnish, Portuguese, and French, with English understanding as well.
